GCF adheres to the Child Protection Act by protecting the identities and confidentiality of our children. Photos used on our site are not necessarily of children in our care. Every effort is made to never publish the names or faces of our children. Please contact us directly should you require more information about the use of photographs on our website.

The residential social work and therapeutic services are a key focus in the rending of holistic services to the children.

Therapy

The emotional scars, often not seen by the naked eye, are more severe than the apparent physical scars. Children brought into the residential facilities come from difficult backgrounds of abuse, abandonment, neglect and are often traumatized.

The main focus is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to restore children back to normal childhood. Individual work with children consists of either One-on-One, Group or Play Therapy.

The child friendly counselling and therapy room also allows for anger management and Memory Work.

GCF is very proud of the fact that children leave with fewer issues than when they arrived and are hopefully able to deal with their challenges in the family environment.

Social Work

Weekly Child Participation Groups are held, as well as Case Conferences where the children's individual progress is discussed and future planning to promote their reintegration back into community living.

Assistance with regards to birth documents and other legal documents is done to ensure that the children have access to education and healthcare.

Reintegration preparation services are rendered, equipping smooth transition from residential care to family care.
