GCF adheres to the Child Protection Act by protecting the identities and confidentiality of our children. Photos used on our site are not necessarily of children in our care. Every effort is made to never publish the names or faces of our children. Please contact us directly should you require more information about the use of photographs on our website.

Starting from scratch with only a burning desire to assist Orphans and Vulnerable children and families who are prepared to care for them, programs had to be developed to meet their specific beneficiary needs needs.

Children’s services include health, early childhood development, education and a therapeutic program. Every child has an Individual Development Plan which is monitored routinely to ensure that the objectives set for each child is met. Child Care Workers follow the internally developed Child and Youth Care Workers course focussing on residential child care.

The Screening and Assessment of potential Foster families has gained wide spread interest as it was the first guideline contextualized for the African situation and not based on developed world criteria.

The proactive approach has been applauded as an innovative strategy to ensure that a database of families is available for children and that a child is matched with a family that best meets their long term needs.

The main objective of GCF is to place children back with their own families through the Reintegration program, alternatively with relatives (kinship care) or unrelated foster families.
